Travis County ESD #2, Station #5 was designed with Three Drive-through bays. Living Quarters are laid out for individual fire fighters and the Kitchen Area is combined with the Day Room with individual shift pantries for an open floor plan. Commercial Cooking Equipment with a fire protection hood are a central design of the Kitchen Area. Watch Room has visibility of both the Apparatus Bay and the Main Entry. Mechanical Equipment is located on a Mezzanine above the Day Room/Kitchen. The Fire Station is equipped with a rain water harvesting system for use on the landscaped areas around the station. Photovoltaic panels are located on the roof to help minimize the carbon footprint of the station. Floor drains are located under each Apparatus to help minimize water collection on the Apparatus Bay floors. Exterior of the building is comprised of a Standing Seam Metal Roof, Split-Face CMU and Stucco.
